"Big, Beautiful Bill" Medicaid Cuts |
|
Make sure you are contacting Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd and demand they vote NO on Medicaid cuts. |
|
|
North Carolina House Bill 127 proposes to make it a misdemeanor for third-party voter registration drives to distribute actual voter registration forms, permitting only sample forms to be handed out. The bill also mandates that groups conducting these drives register with county boards of elections, detailing their activities. The bill would criminalize voter registration efforts and hinder community organizations from assisting individuals in registering to vote. Opponents also express concern that the legislation could disproportionately affect communities of color and students, who often rely on third-party registration initiatives.
House Bill127 will be heard at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 3 in the House. Call your House Rep today!

Archdale Farmer's Market Booth: Wednesdays
We will be setting up an informational booth at the Archdale Farmer's Market. It is on Wednesdays from 2-6 at Creekside Park in Archdale. We will be starting on Wednesday, June 4th. Jennipher will be manning the tent for the first two Wednesdays to see if enough people visit the market to warrant continuing the whole summer. We need volunteers to help man the booth. We will have flyers about Democracy Forward to pass out, upcoming events/protests to advertise, and information on pertinent bills/laws and how to contact your legislators. If you would like to help out, please sign up for one or multiple time slots on 6/4 and 6/11. |

Banned Book Lobby Day: Tuesday, June 17
Red, Wine, & Blue is having a banned book Read-In outside the Legislative building in Raleigh and scheduled meetings with legislators. They need to hear directly from us that we won’t stand for book banning, discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community, and attempts to erase Black and other marginalized communities in our state, nor take away our voting rights. They will have a virtual training session prior to Lobby Day and will pair newbies with seasoned lobby goers. |
